FPM team donates £768 to Myeloma UK

FPM recently donated a cheque for £768 to Myeloma UK - the leading UK cancer organisation dealing specifically with myeloma and its related disorders.

In December 2011 FPM staff nominated to make a donation to a good cause rather than sending internal Christmas cards to each other. This, combined with a raffle organised by Kim Knott (FPM Resident Liaison Officer), resulted in a total of £268 being raised by the team. The remaining £500 was donated by FPM.

In September 2011 the Foster family lost a close relative to the disease, Julie Harnwell, after a courageous five and a half year battle

Cases of Myeloma (currently incurable) have doubled in the last 30 years. Myeloma UK receives no government funding and relies almost entirely on voluntary donations and income from fundraising activities.

The money raised will go to a variety of different programs and services, helping to support patients diagnosed with Myeloma and their families. FPM will be organising numerous fund raising events throughout 2012 to help support the charity.
